How an Engagement Works

1

Free scoping call

A 30-minute conversation about your headcount, current HR setup and what is not working. We confirm which service fits and what it would involve. No obligation.

2

Proposal and plan

You receive a written scope, timeline and fee. For HRIS and HR 0 → 1 work this includes the deliverables list; for payroll it includes the monthly cycle and cut-off dates.

3

Delivery and handover

We do the work with your team, not around it. Every engagement ends with knowledge transfer so your HR staff and managers can run the new process after we hand over.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which service should a startup with no HR function start with?

Usually HR 0 → 1. It puts the foundations in place — employment contracts, MPF enrolment, leave policy, a basic handbook and salary bands — and can be followed by payroll outsourcing once the first hires are on board. If you already have staff and payroll is the pain point, start with payroll outsourcing instead.

What is included in HR 0 → 1 setup for a startup?

HR 0 → 1 is a foundation engagement for early-stage and growth-stage companies. We design your HR framework, write the employee handbook and core policies, advise on the right HR structure for your headcount, build job grading and salary bands, and draft each document with reference to Hong Kong legal requirements.

What does Payroll Outsourcing include?

Monthly payroll processing, MPF and ORSO contribution calculation, payslips, final-payment calculation on termination, and preparation of the IR56 series (IR56B, IR56E, IR56F, IR56G) for you to review and file with the Inland Revenue Department. We act as your back-office payroll team so you can focus on the business.

Do you handle Hong Kong statutory filings like MPF, ORSO, and the IR56 series?

Yes, as part of Payroll Outsourcing. We calculate MPF / ORSO monthly, prepare the year-end IR56B and the IR56E, IR56F and IR56G for staff changes for you to review and file, and help you stay on top of statutory holidays and Employment Ordinance requirements.

What is HR Re-structuring / Health Check?

A diagnostic review of your existing HR function — compliance audit, policy and process review, training analysis — followed by re-design and implementation support. It is for businesses whose HR has grown organically and now needs to be streamlined for the next stage.

Do you work with companies that already have an HR team?

Yes. HR digitalisation and HR re-structuring are typically for companies whose HR function has grown organically and now needs a system, a review, or both. We work alongside the existing team and train HR staff and line managers on every new process, system and policy, so the improvements stick after we hand over.

How do you support compliance with Hong Kong employment regulations?

Every framework, policy and payroll calculation we deliver is prepared with reference to the Employment Ordinance, MPF Schemes Ordinance, Inland Revenue Ordinance (IR56 series), Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and other applicable Hong Kong statutes. Compliance review is a deliverable, not an afterthought.

Is the first consultation free?

Yes. The first consultation is free for every service: 30 minutes, in English, Cantonese or Mandarin, with no obligation. We quote after that call, based on your headcount and scope.

Are you a recruitment agency?

No. NextPath does not place candidates. We work on HR operations — payroll, startup HR setup, digitalisation and restructuring — and the HR Network is a community for HR professionals to exchange knowledge, not a job board.

NextPath is an HR consultancy, not a law firm. Our services and deliverables do not constitute legal advice; for matters requiring legal advice, please consult a qualified legal professional.
